About Alpetra
From rockto legacy
A Jordanian gypsum manufacturer.

The same stone, a new purpose
Petra was cut from stone and it is still standing. That is the idea the company takes its name from, and it is the idea behind the work: take what the Jordanian ground gives and put it back into the buildings going up today.
Gypsum has finished interiors for as long as people have built them. It comes out of the ground as rock, and it leaves our plant as a powder that sets hard, takes a smooth face and holds a moulded edge. We work at the point where the two meet — where raw stone becomes a material a contractor can open on site and use the same morning.
Everything we make starts there, and everything we make is made in Jordan.

Where it is made
Our plant sits in the south of Jordan, close to the rock it works with. Raw gypsum arrives, is crushed and milled, calcined, and drawn off as a fine white powder.
From there it goes two ways: into bags for decorative and moulding work, and into the board line, where the powder is cast between liners and cut to size. Alongside the gypsum lines we form galvanised steel into the studs, tracks and channels that carry the finished boards, and we assemble the ceiling systems those boards sit in.
Bags and pallets leave from the same yard they were made in, loaded for sites and distributors across the country.
Five lines, one supplier
Everything a drywall or ceiling system needs, produced under one roof in Jordan. Each line has its own page.
Straightforward to buy from
Most of what a buyer needs from a supplier is plain: know what is being asked for, say what can be delivered, and deliver that.
- 01Tell us the jobSend the product, the quantity and where it is going. A drawing or a bill of quantities is welcome but not required.
- 02We come back with a quotationWritten, itemised, and clear about what is included. If something you have asked for is not something we make, we will say so.
- 03We load and deliverBagged, palletised and dispatched from the plant, to the site or to your own store.

How we control quality
Gypsum is judged on site, not on paper: whether it mixes clean, whether it sets when it should, whether the face takes a finish, whether the board comes off the pallet straight. We work backwards from that. The raw rock is selected before it is milled, the powder is checked through the run rather than only at the end of it, and anything that does not behave the way the last batch behaved does not get bagged.
Contractors, consultants and distributors
Three kinds of buyer, each wanting something slightly different from the same five product lines.
- ContractorsBuying for a job that is already running. What matters is that the quantity is right, the delivery lands when it is supposed to, and the material behaves the same as the last load.
- Consultants and specifiersWriting us into a specification before anything is ordered. What matters is knowing exactly what each product is, where it belongs and what it does not do.
- Distributors and merchantsHolding stock and selling on. What matters is steady supply, packaging that survives a store, and a product their own customers come back for.
